Getting my weight on track
So I have finished the second chapter of the Eden Diet and I actually applied it today and I feel great! So the second chapter outlines diets and how they are actually sinning themselves. According to the book, the Bible gives us four guidelines:
1. We shouldnt be gluttonous
2. We shouldnt worry about or think too much about what we will eat.
3. We can eat any type of food.
4. We should eat to the glory of God.
So basically even being on a “diet” is a sin, because it gives too much power to food. A diet is defined by the book as what a person eats without any reference to exclusion of foods. The more you tell yourself you cannot have something it is human nature to want it more. If you cant have cupcakes, its all you think about. A person that diets according to the book is more likely to gain it back and then “go on” another diet. Real weight control is to trust the natural controls God gave us which is hunger pangs and fullness. The book says do you have to tell yourself to breath, think, blink no it is something you don’t think about, just as eating should be. Chronic dieters are either “on” a diet or “off” a diet, so when your “off” its a free for all then you feel guilty and go “on” a diet, totally restricting yourself…which in turn will eventually make you go “off” the diet making it a vicious cycle. Its the feeling of guilt and failure associated with eating “bad”. According to the Bible we are free to eat what we want, just to eat it only when your hungry and stop when your full. It is about getting the focus back to the correct order which is God is in control of us and we are in control of food. A lot of times it seems that food controls us, when we eat it, how much, is it “bad” or “good”? Just eat when your hungry and stop when your full. The book says it is just that easy. And honestly I applied it today and it worked. I wasn’t hungry for breakfast so I didnt eat…instead of eating it because I was told that eating breakfast is what your suppossed to do and all these crazy diet tricks and things we have in our heads. I did not give food a second thought today, I thought Ill worry about that bridge when I get there (when I get hungry) and thats exactly what I did, I waited until I got to work around 4, ordered what I wanted, got busy at work and didnt have time to eat so i just put it in a box and waited until I could and its funny because real hunger pangs are much quieter than the voices in my head are telling me to eat the food lol. I ate around 9 pm and just ate a few bites til I felt satisfied not full but satisfied and put the rest in a box and still fine. Im not saying everyday is going to be like this. Some days I do wake up hungry for breakfast, but today I didnt and didnt eat just to eat, I waited until i really wanted it. Honestly food tastes better when you are really hungry for it. The book says that nothing is off limits eat what you want but eat it when your hungry. Break the bond of guilt associated with certain foods then you will naturally be drawn to what foods you would rather eat, for what makes you most satisfied, what makes you feel good, so on and so forth. Its only day one people but I got to tell you, feel alot more in control today then I did yesterday when every thought I had was about food. lol. Ok let you know how tommorrow goes. Goodnite!!

Getting my weight on track
Ok so I started reading the Eden Diet yesterday and from the first few pages it tells you that it is basically about listening to your God-given prompts on when to eat and when to stop. No food is off limits it is just about small portions and not eating until you are really hungry. Relying on the metabolism God gave you and stop making it so complicated by all these diet fads. The book is written by a doctor who has studied obesity. Honestly it makes sense. It gives you a 7 day challenge which is to 1. finish the book 2. wait until you feel actual hunger pangs before you eat 3. eat small portions of normal food, just barely to take away your hunger 4. when tempted to eat when not hungry, turn to God and pray. Im gonna give it a try. I trust in God so I dont see why it would work. Ok let you know more as I read more.
